Meet Matt

Matt and his family moved to Williamson County in 2006 as part of a corporate relocation. The home they built became the 5th house he and his family had lived in over the prior 6 years, and ultimately his 11th relocation. The members of his family were no strangers to relocation or finding new homes, schools, doctors, dentists and friends. They embraced what they expected to be their last move and grew to love Williamson County, calling it their true home.

Matt grew up in southeast Michigan and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Immediately after college, he joined a major global automotive company in sales and marketing. He spent 33 years with this company in many different senior and executive level positions. He completed an Executive MBA from Washington State University, which illustrates his never-ending commitment to learning. Matt also shares that commitment to his continuing education in real estate. In addition to many hours of training in real estate topics, he also holds an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation, Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA) certification, and has completed a rigorous Relocation Specialist training program. In addition to selling residential real estate, Matt occasionally teaches marketing courses at Belmont University, and he and John own an aerial imaging company to create marketing videos and photography for their clients’ homes. They are often hired by other real estate agents in the area to create aerial assets for their listings, as well.

When you meet Matt, you will immediately feel his focus on the client's satisfaction. He is known for going the extra mile in anything he does to ensure ultimate success. His responsiveness, professionalism, and teamwork will provide a platform for an exceptional experience in buying or selling your home.

Matt and his wife Kim reside in Franklin. Their oldest son attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and received his doctorate in Physical Therapy at Belmont University. Tyler currently practices in the Nashville area. Their youngest son is a graduate of Florida State University, and teaches elementary education at a charter school in Denver, CO. Travis is also doing post graduate work in education. Matt and Kim are partners at Rolling Hills Community Church and have been on the launch team for the church’s Nolensville and Nashville campuses. Matt is also on his second three-year term on the Rolling Hills Board of Directors. He and Kim love anything outdoors including hiking and biking, as well as dog & cat rescue and fostering.

John Spoon


Meet John

John has been a resident of Williamson County since 2010. He retired in August 2015 from Nissan North America where he spent over 28 years in 9 different locations in various senior management and executive level positions. His position prior to retirement was Vice President, Customer Satisfaction and Chief Customer Officer (CCO) where he was responsible for over 500 employees devoted to customer retention and satisfaction.

John is a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Toledo, with a specialization in marketing. As a believer in continuing his education in the real estate profession, John has earned his Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation as well as his Leading Relocation Specialists (LRS) certification. The Waypoint Team has won multiple awards through the Williamson County Association of Realtors (WCAR) including the prestigious Platinum Award in 2019.

Through John's multiple relocations for his corporate career, he gained a great appreciation and understanding of the many steps involved in buying and selling a home. Based upon this experience, he knows how to make the process an enjoyable and stress free transaction. John will use his significant business experience and his love and understanding of the real estate market here in Middle Tennessee to make the process of buying or selling your home a truly positive and rewarding experience.

John and his wife Cindy own and reside on a 34 acre equestrian complex called Ridge Crest Farm, which their daughter Katie operates as a boarding and lesson/training program for hunter/jumpers. Their son John and his wife Taylor live in Norman, Oklahoma. John and Cindy enjoy The University of Oklahoma football, wake surfing, dogs, and all things associated with farm and lake living! They are also Partners at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee.

Kelley Engels Mayo


Meet Kelley

Born and raised in Irvine, California. Kelley relocated to Nashville in 2016 to pursue her passion for designing and creating spaces that consist of both traditional and contemporary elements. Over the past several years Kelley has come to love the charm of East Nashville specifically, but also loves helping others find their dream home across Nashville!

Prior to moving, Kelley had worked in corporate America for nearly 20 years as VP of Sales and Marketing for iHeartMedia, Inc. where she fine tuned her skills in providing the utmost level of customer service. She was always working to make sure that her clients' needs were satisfied.

Kelley decided she wanted to follow her true passion and left iHeartMedia to become her own boss. In 2016 Kelley, her husband and general contractor Shane, and their daughter moved to Nashville and jumped head first into real estate. What Kelley loves most is her family. Along with her husband and youngest daughter, she also has a 23 year old daughter who just recently moved to Nashville to start her own career in real estate, as well as a 21 year old son who is pursuing an MBA at George Washington University.

Kelley became obsessed with design shows while she was remodeling her first home in Del Rey, CA. She became a licensed REALTOR® in the State of Tennessee so she could help others find their dream home. This allowed her to connect with new people and also evolve her overall customer relations because now she not only knew how to build and design homes but also knew so much more about the real estate industry and the ever changing market in Nashville. As she continued to dive into real estate she eventually found her home with The Waypoint Team at Compass where she was able to align herself with like-minded real estate experts who had similar visions for the Nashville area as she did.

Kelley’s unique way of designing homes sets her apart from most designers, since she loves to push the boundaries of how she mixes design aspects and challenges her team to do the same. She draws the ideas and designs for her homes from her experience in Los Angeles, as well from her love of nature. However, the charm and character of southern design caught her attention and started to mix with the modern aspects. What came of this union was stunning and new to the Middle Tennessee real estate market.

Alongside Shane, the size of their projects grew from small little post war cottages to massive 3-story California-style homes. As much as Kelley loves to build high-end custom homes she also desires to bring luxury and quality to clients with a range of budgets. She learned this while building her own dream home in Los Angeles. This same principle is very present in how Kelley approaches helping her clients find the home that they want. Kelley thought she could never own luxury at a reasonable price but as she started to design more, she has learned how to mix high end with affordable finishes to create an end product that feels luxurious and beautiful. She uses this approach everyday when designing her homes.

As Kelley continues to design and develop the future of Nashville real estate she wants all of her work to reflect the character of each neighborhood, and always aims to respect the history of the past while looking optimistically toward the future.
